Hello everyone!
We hope everyone is having a fantastic week!!
We had our first meeting last Tuesday, but don't worry about missing out if you could not show up!
But before we go on...
We want to clarify that if you join the team, it means that you like science or you want to explore and learn science. If you join the team to simply put this on your college apps, this is not the right team for you (sorry we cannot put this in nicer terms). If that is the case, email us and we won't mind because it is better for you to let us know now than later. We value DEDICATION more than intelligence.

Here is the Science Olympiad Manual with the events (this can also be viewed under the Events tab):

Take the time this week to review all the events in this manual, which can also be found on the official Science Olympiad website(https://www.soinc.org/2016_div_c_events), before ranking your top five events on the google form below. It is VITAL that you have given thought to this process because you will most likely work on those events for the rest of the year. **You will NOT be allowed to change anything after submitting the form. Please submit this form no later than October 24 (Saturday):

**Please note that the day of the competition is February 6th (Saturday). If you are unavailable that day, let us know and we will work with you.
As for next week's mandatory meeting on Tuesday, you will be given a test consisting of earth science, biology, chemistry, and physics regents content BUT please don't worry about this. It is an assessment to see which area of science you are the strongest at so that we can get a better picture which events we could place you in. We will provide you with food after you are finished!
Please do not feel overwhelmed by all the information we gave out. We understand this may seem a lot at first, but you will get the hang of it when you work on your events later on. Your only job for now is to focus on choosing the right events for yourself by going over the Science Olympiad Manual (or Science Olympiad website) and nothing else.
Lastly, if you know anyone who will be willing to join the team, notify them to email us by this Friday.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us!
Sincerely,
Michelle Tsang & Saher Rahiel
